Each of our projects offers something for you, and for the people that you are volunteering for. Read on for a summary of what you can gain from taking part in one of our projects, and click here to find out what’s in it for them.

All projects:

Learn Spanish Feel good factor of helping others Improve your curriculum vitae/resume See one of the most beautiful parts of the world Meet new people, in a new and exciting environment Gain confidence in travelling by going on an organised placement Learn about and live in another culture (develop cultural sensitivity)

Conservation

As with ‘All projects’, as well as the following:

Witness one of nature’s most amazing sights Hands on experience on a conservation project Learn about health and safety of living in remote locations Excitement and adventure of living in a remote location, camping on a deserted beach Learn about the relationship between a local fishing community and the endangered animals they work hard to protect

Community:

Teaching English

As with ‘All projects’, as well as the following:

Gain extra confidence that comes with teaching in a foreign environment Decide if it is an area in which you would like to go on and study/make a career for yourself Gain hands on experience in teaching (great opportunity for those who have studied or plan to study TEFL, or any other subject)

Special Education

As with ‘All projects’, as well as the following:

Become part of an incredibly dedicated team Gain extra confidence that comes with teaching in a foreign environment Decide if it is an area in which you would like to go on and study/make a career for yourself

Fundraising

As with ‘All projects’, as well as the following:

See your work directly benefit others Become part of an incredibly dedicated team Become involved in decision making as part of a committee Learn about techniques involved in the planning and execution of fundraising events

Learning Spanish

Improve your ability to communicate in other countries (there are more native Spanish speakers worldwide than native English speakers) Improve the enjoyment of your placement by being able to communicate with those around you in their language (all Experience MexECO staff are bilingual)
