Sponsoring a child through school
Although the importance of education
is becoming more and more recognised in Mexico, the fact still remains
that there are many families that can’t afford to send their
children to school. A child in school means one less person bringing
an income into the house, and also brings with it school fees, as well
as travel, uniform and lunch costs.
The costs involved in sponsoring a child through school
vary greatly, but the following costs are representative of two schools
in the Melaque/Barra de Navidad area with which we are currently working.
Fees for one year, including
inscription, book fees, uniform (CECYTEJ), travel and food (these are
the bare costs for one student and don’t include costs such as
money for field
trips, lab fees or emergency costs):
- Colegio de Estudios Científicos y Tecnológicos
del Estado de Jalisco (CECYTEJ), Jaluco:
$7000
(Mexican Pesos) ~ £390 (GBP) ~ €500 (Euros) ~ $640 (US)
- Centro de Atención Múltiple, Cihuatlán
(C.A.M.):
$4760
(Mexican Pesos) ~ £230
(GBP) ~ €340
(Euros) ~ $440 (US)
Contributions towards the full amount or full sponsorships
are accepted gratefully. Please contact
us for more information.
